About ComboBroker

Built by anglers, for anglers.

ComboBroker is a free, independent comparison tool for fishing rods, reels, and combos. We pull together specs and pricing from across the industry so you can stop tab-hopping and start fishing.

Why we exist

Picking out a new rod or reel used to mean reading the same six marketing pages, scrolling forum threads from 2014, and still ending up at the tackle counter with more questions than answers. The gear is great. The shopping experience is not.

ComboBroker was started in Central Texas to fix that. We organize real product specs side-by-side — length, action, gear ratio, drag, retrieve rate, weight — and let you filter, compare, and build a combo without guessing whether two pieces actually pair well.

What you can do here

  • Compare gear. Browse rods, reels, and factory combos with real, structured specs — not just brand copy.
  • Build custom combos. Pair any rod and reel, sanity-check compatibility, and see a running total before you buy.
  • Save your work. Pin combos, product lists, and saved searches to your account so you can pick up where you left off on any device.
  • Share your setup. Every public combo has a clean, shareable link with previews — perfect for asking a buddy "does this rig make sense?"

How we stay free

ComboBroker is free to use and does not require an account to browse. When we link out to a retailer to actually buy a product, those links may be affiliate links — meaning we earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. That's it. We do not sell your data, we do not run intrusive ads, and we do not take payment to rank one brand above another.

We use the same specs and the same sort order for every product, no matter who pays us. If we ever change that, we'll say so out loud.

Where our data comes from

Product data is aggregated from manufacturer spec sheets and publicly listed retailer pages, then normalized into a consistent format so a 7'0" medium-heavy rod from one brand can be compared apples-to-apples with one from another. Pricing and stock are pulled on a regular cadence but can drift between updates — always confirm on the retailer's site before checking out.

See something wrong? Tell us. We fix data issues quickly.

Who we are

ComboBroker is an independent project based in Central Texas. We aren't owned by a tackle manufacturer, a retailer, or a media conglomerate. The team fishes everything from largemouth on Lake Travis to redfish on the coast, and the site reflects how we actually shop for gear.
